FIELD OF LIGHTS

Australia, Reino Unido, Estados Unidos, Korea del Sur… desde hace años un campo de luces se posa sobre el paisaje a lo largo del mundo entero de la mano del artista multidisciplinar Bruce Munro.

Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, South Korea … For years, a field of lights has been set on the landscape all over the world by the multidisciplinary artist Bruce Munro.

¿Cómo empezó todo? Desde su página web nos cuentan lo siguiente:

“En 1992, viajando a Uluru a través del Desierto Rojo en el centro de Australia, Munro sintió una conexión convincente con la energía, el calor y el brillo del paisaje del desierto, que registró en sus cuadernos de bocetos siempre presentes. El campo de luz es la encarnación de esta experiencia. Munro recuerda: «Quería crear un campo iluminado de tallos que, como la semilla latente en un desierto seco, florecería al atardecer con suaves ritmos de luz bajo un manto de estrellas en llamas». Después de haber desarrollado la idea durante más de una década, se creó el primer Campo de Luz en el campo detrás de la casa de su familia en Wiltshire.

Munro regresó al mismo espacio que lo inspiró, a Uluru en 2016 para la instalación de Field of Light.”

How it all started? From their website they tell us the following:

«In 1992, traveling to Uluru through the Red Desert in central Australia, Munro felt a compelling connection to the energy, heat and brightness of the desert landscape, which he recorded in his sketchbooks that were always present. The field of light is the embodiment of this experience. Munro recalls: «I wanted to create an illuminated field of stems that, like the seed dormant in a dry desert, would bloom at dusk with gentle rhythms of light under a blanket of burning stars.» After having developed the idea for more than a decade, he created the first Field of Light in the field behind his family’s house in Wiltshire.

 Munro returned to the same space that inspired him, to Uluru in 2016 for the installation of Field of Light. «

 

Esta vez el artista ubica su “Field of Lights” en Paso Robles, California.

Para llevar a cabo este proyecto se han utilizado más de 58.800 pequeñas esferas de vidrio iluminadas a través de fibra óptica que modifican su color para crear un paisaje de luz dinámica. La instalación es autosuficiente, pues recibe la energía necesaria de luz solar durante el día para poder activarse y permanecer durante la noche.

Un trabajo puramente visual y estético de gran belleza con abrumadora capacidad para transformar el paisaje que podríamos permitirnos catalogar en una nueva disciplina llamada “Land Light Art”. Una obra de arte inmersiva que a diferencia de las nuevas tendencias de arte digital se construye a partir de elementos analógicos lo que sin lugar a dudas le aporta valor añadido.

This time the artist located his «Field of Lights» in Paso Robles, California.

To carry out this project, more than 58,800 small glass spheres illuminated by optical fiber have been used to modify their color to create a dynamic light landscape. The installation is self-sufficient, since it receives the necessary energy of sunlight during the day to be able to activate and stay overnight. A purely visual and aesthetic work of great beauty with overwhelming ability to transform the landscape that we could afford to catalog in a new discipline called «Land Light Art».

An immersive work of art that unlike new trends in digital art is built from analogue elements which undoubtedly brings added value.
