Currently, a large part of recognition and artificial intelligence technology is geared towards the extraction of personal data for clearly questionable private and commercial purposes. Systematic algorithms that analyse our gestures and ways of acting to predict and automatically decide who we are, or should be. A powerful and uncontrolled socio-cultural weapon based on tables and statistics capable of supplanting and distorting our own identity.

BEINGS OF LIGHT questions and takes up the tools of intelligent detection and recognition with the aim of creating a new narrative discourse around the equality of the human condition. Can we make use of this same technology to create beauty, can this new tool be a useful mechanism of social democratisation?

The installation uses a kinetic sensor and generative digital software that transforms – in real time – our silhouette into small particles of dynamic light that float and scatter in space. A magical place created by and for people regardless of age, gender, race or religion. A living, glowing canvas on which to play and rediscover a new perception of ourselves and others. A playful and sensorial sculpture capable of uniting us all in an inclusive universe formed by flashes of light.
